The Ducati Bellevue team have been busy in the winter months preparing this gorgeous entry level racer for the WMRRA 650 Super Sport Twins class based on the Ducati Monster 796, some bits and pieces and of course the pièce de résistance – the fairings from the Ducati Desmosedici RR.
The class rules allow for the Ducati Monster 696 and 796 to compete with stock engines so may as well start with a Ducati Monster 796 then! The team stripped the bike and added the obvious racing touches which were essentially bolt-ons like Termignoni DP slip-on mufflers, Woodcraft rearsets, SpeedyMoto bits, Dunlop D211GP tires, an OhlinsIn this form the bike took 3rd place in its first race (in the race, this is Seattle after all!) before standing on top of the podium in race number two with Brad DeLong doing the piloting. Next came the mounting of the fairings with the MotoGP race paint.
The team called the result the Ducati Desmodue RR and what a stunning bike it is! The good news is you could have one yourself built by the same team that made this one. Expect to invest ~$15,000 for a brand new Monster 796 in this spec in primer gray. Makes me want to go racing again.
